Family Worship Service

You all know how it goes sometimes. You do things religiously for awhile and eventually it becomes boring. That is how it was with our Family Worship at the Wat and so perhaps a year ago we stopped having the service and held our regular evening meditation in our activity room instead. Things have been going okay but something seemed to be missing and so we decided to go back to the Temple on Sunday evenings to have our Family Worship Time with the Monk. I was pleasantly surprised at the childrens reaction when I told them about the change and even more surprised at how well they did in the newly remodeled Temple.

It was a good night for all of us and even though I know it may eventually become boring again…for the time it is like a breath of fresh air.

Hope you can join us sometime.

Community Assistance Program

A few months ago, one of the boys in our local community, who had passed the 12 grade exams but couldn’t find work anywhere, approached us with a proposal. He was interested in becoming a chef but lacked funds to attend a 3 month course of study in professional cooking. Without the course he could not find work and without work he could not afford the course. Because of the generous support of our donors, we had the cash available for him, in our Community Assistance Program and sent him on his way to Phnom Penh, with the agreement that if he did not finish the course he would have to pay the money back.

We are very pleased to report that he has not only graduated from the course but is now employed and working at one of the restaurants in Phnom Penh. We are grateful to all of you who have made this possible.
